How to connect AutoCount to warehouse picking and delivery
The problem
Goods are picked and shipped, but AutoCount only gets updated later — sometimes the next day, sometimes at month-end. Between those moments, your stock figure is wrong, and sales may promise stock that is already gone.
The real cause
The deduction is happening at the wrong point. If AutoCount is updated from a document keyed after the fact, the system always lags behind the physical reality on the floor.
The solution, step by step
- Decide the deduction point. Choose exactly when stock is deducted — at picking, at dispatch, or at delivery confirmation — and apply it consistently.
- Capture picking as it happens. Warehouse staff confirm the pick against the sales or delivery order at the moment of movement, ideally by scanning.
- Link the delivery order to the stock movement. The delivery document and the stock deduction should be one connected event, not two separate manual steps.
- Record proof of delivery. Photos, signatures, and failed-delivery reasons are captured against the order so billing and stock both stay clean.
- Sync the result to AutoCount. Once movement is captured operationally, connect it to AutoCount so the accounting and stock records update without re-keying.
How we help
This connects two of our systems: a custom inventory and warehouse system for picking and stock control, and a logistics and delivery order system for dispatch and proof of delivery — both feeding AutoCount. It is a common need for warehouse and inventory businesses.
FAQ
Do we need barcode scanning?
Not always. It depends on volume, SKU count, and your process. Scanning helps at higher volumes but is not mandatory.
When should stock be deducted?
At the point that best matches your operation — picking, dispatch, or delivery. The key is to apply it consistently and connect it to AutoCount.
Can drivers update delivery on mobile?
Yes. The delivery workflow can be mobile-first, with proof of delivery captured in the field.
